August Glam Bag from Ipsy

How cute is August’s ipsy bag?! I feel like I’m usually pretty ‘meh’ about the bags, but this one is adorable. Here’s what all came with it:

Rodial Smokey Eye Pen in Black – You can’t go wrong with a black eyeliner. I don’t use stick eyeliners too often anymore, but this one goes on very smooth and I haven reached for it a few times since trying it out.

Lord & Berry 20100 maximatte crayon lipstick in Intimacy – This is basically a large lip liner. The color is pretty, but I found it drying and uncomfortable to put on my lips. I probably won’t be reaching for this as actual lipstick, but lip liner – maybe.

Organic Surge Perfecting Face Polish – Ipsy always knows when I need some more exfoliator, I swear! This one is good, the exfoliants are quite fine. Almost too fine, but I’m starting to think that it’s just me.

NYX Professional Makeup BORN TO GLOW LIQUID ILLUMINATOR in Gleam – Oh my gosh, this is the best of the bag, my friends. I love this! It’s a great stand alone highlighter OR I sometimes use it to give my powder highlighter something more to stick to. I feel like highlighter can disappear off your face after wearing it for a while.

Sally’s Box Secret Garden Ampoule Masks – The masks themselves are awesome, but the packaging is huge! I had to find a new place for these masks, because they’re so much bigger than my other ones.

Color Pop Matte Liquid Lipsticks Review

So for only $6 each, I had to check out Color Pop‘s matte liquid lipsticks, cause I’m obsessed with matte liquid lipsticks. I already had quite a few of my normal colors covered with my Aromi lipsticks, so I decided to get some nice neutrals and a super dark purple. I got, from left to right – Bad Habit, Guess, Beeper, and Clueless. I read online that Beeper was a great dupe for Kylie’s Lip Kit color Dolce and Clueless for Candy, so I thought I’d give those a go. The rest were just because I thought they were pretty. Color Pop has quite a few shades in your typical red, pink, nude, purple lines, but they do have some funky/non traditional colors, as well, like blue and green.

I thought these felt similar to my Aromi colors, but not quite as long lasting and a little more drying on the lips. Nothing that I don’t expect with matte liquid lipsticks, though. The coverage was excellent and I’d definitely get more shades from Color Pop, especially since they’re only $6 each! The price point is the biggest thing for me here. I haven’t seen a quality matte liquid lipstick at such a low price point.

Here’s the four colors swatched on my arm in natural light and with flash.

Beeper is super pretty on and really goes with my coloring. It looks much more natural than I anticipated. Clueless was another nice neutral that was soft and romantic, at least I thought so. Bad habit was more subtle on the lips. It was a nice mauve pink that wasn’t too loud. Guess looked pretty much black on my lips and I probably won’t wear it often, but I’m excited to rock it once in a while.

Here’s a potato quality photo from my phone of them on real quick.

Overall I’d give the color Color Pop lipsticks a 8/10! Have you tried Color Pop? Any other must-have shades I looked over when I was ordering? Let me know!

Aromi Liquid Lipstick Review

I was in the search for a very long lasting matte lipstick and saw on r/MakeUpAddiction that there were quite a few vegan, indie options that people had tried and loved. Buying cruelty free is super important to me and I try my best, especially with beauty products. And the aspect of supporting a smaller business as opposed to a huge company definitely interests me, too. Some awesome redditor was kind enough to make a Google spreadsheet with a bunch of liquid lipstick brands and people’s input on them. The holy grail, if you will.

I was particularly interested in the one that lasted the longest. After scrolling through the entire thing and checking out other online reviews, I settled on Aromi. The liquid lipsticks are $17 each, which was reasonable after doing some research. I went with the color “Power Red” as my first purchase. You can’t go wrong with a red!

It arrived VERY promptly- five days, like actual days and not business days! Holy cow! I was eager to try it out. Applying the lipstick wasn’t too hard. I’d never used a liquid lipstick before, so I found going slow and steady was the best way. You really have to be precise, so take your time. It took a few tries to get everything looking even on both sides and I applied a second coat overall for good measure. It took maybe a minute to feel totally dry and I tested it with a kiss to the back of my hand and nothing came off. This was at about 6pm.

It doesn’t feel too drying and is very light weight. At about 9pm, I was ready to go wind down in bed, so I removed the lipstick with some make up remover and a cotton ball. It was very easy to come off, which I wasn’t expecting.

After getting the Power Red, I eagerly waited to add to my collection. Aromi is currently switching their bottle design, so the old style is on sale. This was all it took for me to take the dive. I went with Pink Periwinkle, Vamptastic Plum, Toasted Almond, and Neon Red. As you’ll notice, the Toasted Almond is in the new style.

*Update: For Black Friday/Cyber Monday they had a SUPER great deal and I splurged for 4 more as my Christmas gift for myself.

Below are all my Aromi lipsticks swatched – one without flash and one with flash inside. I truly love all these shades! My most worn are Red Dahlia, Power Red, Vamptastic Plum, and Toasted Almond.

Overall, I LOVE this product! I’m buying more ASAP! Highly, highly recommend! 10/10
