My Vanity

The vanity is wear all the magic happens! I got my pretty, white vanity from Ikea for $299. I customized it by getting prettier knobs for the drawers. All the clear containers are all from ebay or Marshall’s. I like the clear storage because I can easily see what’s in there and not waste time looking for things. There is a drawer in the front of the vanity divided into 3 sections. I have things organized with eyeshadows in one section; mascaras, liners, and eyebrow products in the middle; and blush, highlighters, and bronzers in the last one. I have various skin care items in the top left drawer and liquid lipsticks in the top right.

I adore this vanity, but you can make more custom ones by DIY-ing it, even with Ikea products. I recently upgraded my stool to a nice, pink one from Target (link). It is taller than my old one and just looks more put together. I love it! Homerun for Target yet again.

Color Pop Matte Liquid Lipsticks Review

IMG_3269

So for only $6 each, I had to check out Color Pop‘s matte liquid lipsticks, cause I’m obsessed with matte liquid lipsticks. I already had quite a few of my normal colors covered with my Aromi lipsticks, so I decided to get some nice neutrals and a super dark purple. I got, from left to right – Bad Habit, Guess, Beeper, and Clueless. I read online that Beeper was a great dupe for Kylie’s Lip Kit color Dolce and Clueless for Candy, so I thought I’d give those a go. The rest were just because I thought they were pretty. Color Pop has quite a few shades in your typical red, pink, nude, purple lines, but they do have some funky/non traditional colors, as well, like blue and green.

I thought these felt similar to my Aromi colors, but not quite as long lasting and a little more drying on the lips. Nothing that I don’t expect with matte liquid lipsticks, though. The coverage was excellent and I’d definitely get more shades from Color Pop, especially since they’re only $6 each! The price point is the biggest thing for me here. I haven’t seen a quality matte liquid lipstick at such a low price point.

Here’s the four colors swatched on my arm in natural light and with flash.

Beeper is super pretty on and really goes with my coloring. It looks much more natural than I anticipated. Clueless was another nice neutral that was soft and romantic, at least I thought so. Bad habit was more subtle on the lips. It was a nice mauve pink that wasn’t too loud. Guess looked pretty much black on my lips and I probably won’t wear it often, but I’m excited to rock it once in a while.

Here’s a potato quality photo from my phone of them on real quick.

Overall I’d give the color Color Pop lipsticks a 8/10! Have you tried Color Pop? Any other must-have shades I looked over when I was ordering? Let me know!

November Glam Bag from Ipsy

Is this not the prettiest bag yet?! I love anything and everything galaxy print, so I was ecstatic when I saw the sneak peaks for this month’s ipsy bag!

    1. China Glaze Nail Lacquer in Techno. This is fun! I love glitter nail polishes, especially silvers. It has both big flecks and small flecks. China Glaze nail polishes always seem to dry pretty fast, too, and this was no exception.
    2. Smashbox Cosmetics’ Full Exposure Mascara. This mascara was nice. It’s very dark and doesn’t clump at all, but wasn’t quite as dramatic as I usually like. To solve, I just layered on some of my other mascara that is thicker and then I had super long, full lashes.
    3. Absolute New York’s Nano Liner. Holy crap. Where has this been all my life? I gave up in finding a liner that had the felt tip like this and actually stayed wet longer than the first 10 seconds you take the cap off for the first time. Normally the color is all splotchy and has to be redone about 27 times to get it to look okay. Not the case with this liner. It distributed very evenly on my lid and made some cat-eyes super easy. I’m in love with this liner!
    4. tre’StiQue’s Mini Matte Lip Crayon in Florence Fig. The cap looks like an opened pencil, so I was confused for a second when I first took it out of the bag. I like this color on me, it’s just a little pinker and bolder than my natural color. It goes on easily and feels good on my lips. It didn’t last super long, but it faded evenly, so it wasn’t a huge deal to me.
    5. Coolway’s Stronghold Spray. This hairspray smells really good and it seems like it held pretty well, but I don’t normally use liquid spray hairsprays like this. I kept getting too much on my hair and it’d make a big wet spot, even if I held the bottle pretty far away. I was using it to keep my bangs in place and when I was teasing my crown. For my bangs, it seemed okay, but for teasing, it didn’t create nearly as much texture as my normal hairsprays do. I think I’ll stick with aerosols.

This is definitely my favorite bag as far as contents and the bag itself. Thanks, ipsy! Can’t wait for Decembers! Want to join for just $10 a month? Click HERE!

September Glam Bag from ipsy

  1.  Pixi by Petra – Brow Powder Trio. I love this eyebrow powder! The case is a little hard to open, but I love blending the colors to find that perfect shade. I’m curious about this brand. I guess it’s sold at Target now and this little mini kit was only for ipsy. Sort of a shame, because I love how tiny it is!
  2. Crown Brush – Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush. Soft, efficient, doesn’t feel “cheap.” No complaints here. I don’t usually go for double ended brushes since I store them upright in a cup, but I sure don’t mind being sent one in my Glam Bag!
  3. NYX Cosmetics – ipsy Eye Shadow Trio. I actually liked this a lot more than I expected. Goes on easily and is more pigmented than I assumed it would be, but still very build-able. It also has just the right amount of shimmer. These shades are definitely a must-have for just about anyone!
  4. J. Cat Beauty – #MOTD Waterproof Slide on Pencil for Eyes in Bronze. Everything I expect from an eye liner pencil. I probably wouldn’t have picked this out for myself, but I like the color a lot. It has a subtle, metallic finish. I’m going to try to incorporate this more. It looked awesome with the NYX eye shadow for a all neutral look.
  5. Vasanti Cosmetics – Brighten Up! Exfoliating Cleanser. Okay, this stuff rules. It’s a super, super fine exfoliate that gets rid of all that dead skin on top and makes your skin super soft and smooth. It was a little hard to wash it all off. I felt like I was rinsing my face forever. I used a normal cleanser afterwards to make sure I got it all. I was happy with how it made my skin feel afterwards. Definitely like this product!

Below is a look I did with the NYX ipsy palette. Used the lightest shade on the lid, the brown in the crease, blended up towards the brow bone. Then the black shade in the crease and outer corners to really accentuate. I used Bootycall by Urban Decay under my brows to finish off the look. It looks very natural and can definitely qualify as a “no make up” make up look, if you know what I mean. Even with primer, it seemed like the lightest shade seemed to disappear after a few hours, though. Maybe I need to double layer that one or something. Oh, and I used some Bare Escentuals, Covergirl, and Benefit Cosmetics mascaras to get the long lash look, too.

Urban Decay’s Naked 2 Palette Review

I decided to treat myself for my birthday with Urban Decay’s Naked 2 eye shadow palette. It was a hard choice deciding which palette to go with! I ruled out 3 since it was mostly rose-colored hues. My skin has yellow undertones and I thought that’d be the least flattering and versatile for me. After looking at the palettes in person and reading some reviews online, I went with the Naked 2!

I’m super pleased with my purchase. It’s been very versatile in creating lots of different looks. The case is metal and it comes with a two ended brush. There are 12 beautiful shades to fit any look you’re wanting for the day or evening.

My favorite daytime shades are: Bootycall, Suspect, Tease, and Pistol are all fantastic “no makeup” looks.

My favorite night time shades are: Snakebite, Busted, and Blackout. I usually add those colors to my crease to really amp up my look for the night. You can really use any color on your lid, depending on your mood.

Great highlighter shades: Foxy and Bootycall are fantastic under your eyebrow or in the inner corner of your eye.

These shades are all very wearable, mostly shimmery and overall flattering. I think these could work on many, many different skin tones. I’m super happy and give it a 10/10 and cannot wait to get my hands on the original Naked palette in the future.

Neutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover Review

Okay, I’m terrible about remembering to take all my make up off, especially before going to bed. I saw this on the shelf and thought I’d give it a go. I’ve had this a few weeks now and I’ve been much more diligent. For one, I can even use this to take waterproof eye make up off. That is a feat. I like that I can use this on my whole face and doesn’t bother my eyes at all. I have dry skin, so I’m pretty particular on cleansers. I don’t like that tight feeling that some cleansers give me.

Overall, I’d give it an 8/10. I’m hoping this lasts a while, I’ll be sure to update this when I can if anything changes.
