MY FAVORITE HAIR PRODUCTS

I thought it was time to list out some of my favorite hair products that I find myself buying again and again. I’ve linked to the product on the site that had it for the cheapest price. And no, I don’t get anything for using or listing these products, I just genuinely like them. You’ll notice that there isn’t a shampoo or conditioner on this list, just products for styling. I haven’t found a shampoo or conditioner that has blown me away. It seems like my hair gets “used to” the shampoo and/or conditioner and stops responding as well after a while, so I have to switch it up. These, however, have remained tried and true.

Bed Head Superstar Volumizing Leave-In Conditioner – This leave in conditioner smells amazing, detangles my damp hair, adds volume, and has UV color protection.

Bed Head Headrush Spray – This is the perfect shine spray. It smells fantastic (all Bed Head products do, let’s be real) and doesn’t way down your hair. I also like that I don’t have to get my hands covered in product like you do with liquid shine formulas.

Bed Head Masterpiece Massive Shine Hairspray – This is my absolute favorite hair spray, ESPECIALLY for your bang area. It has a lot of hold but doesn’t look all crispy and hard like other hairsprays. It leaves a nice, healthy shine and smells good, too.

Big Sexy Hair What A Tease Styler By Sexy Hair – This is heavy duty teasing spray. If you’re wanting enormous hair, this is all you need. You spray this at the root, then backcomb.

Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish Hair Spray – Okay, this stuff is amazing and my absolute go-to. I’ve been using it for over a year now and I don’t know how I got by before it. I love using it when I curl my hair, because it give this perfect “messy” look to your curls and has amazing hold. It’s touchable and you can keep styling your hair after you’ve sprayed it on. It’s simply magic in a bottle.

CHI Enviro 54 Natural Hold Hair Spray – This is great, touchable hair spray. It’s not as heavy duty as the Bed Head, but definitely more hold than the Bumble and Bumble. It’s just right.

Design.Me Puff Me Volumizing Cloud Mist – This stuff if fantastic! It’s volumizing powder that you can spray directly in your hair. It’s perfect for a little volume at your roots. You simply spray in hair then rub it into your roots. They have a product called “Dry Me” that I’d like to try sometime. It’s supposed to make your hair dry quicker?

Dove Refresh + Care Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo – I like this dry shampoo a lot. It isn’t too expensive and get’s the job done. I like that it adds volume, as well, cause my hair gets so flat as the oil builds up.

Renpure Sea Salt Spray – Okay, I got this from Ulta, but now it’s no longer available. It looks like they replaced this product with one called Renpure Professional Coconut Water Sea Salt Spray. I haven’t tried the coconut one, though. The one I have is still available from Urban Outfitters. Anyways, I like this sea salt spray. It actually works in my hair. All the other sea salt sprays I tried before didn’t really do anything to my hair. I simply spray this one damp hair and scrunch my hair as I blow dry with a diffuser. Air drying works, too, but the waves are better if I use a blow dryer.

Rock Your Hair Bombshell Big Hair Powder – This is great volumizing powder. You simply sprinkle it at the root where you want to tease, rub it in a little, then backcomb the hair. Sometimes I use this with the Big Sexy Hair teasing spray when I’m going for big, big hair.

Marc Anthony True Professional Deep Repair Aloe Vera & Jasmine Oil Deep Repairing Conditioning Treatment – Smells amazing and made my hair feel soft.

theBalm Cosmetics Bahama Mama – Solid bronzer! I can see why it’s loved by so many. I took it with me on vacation to maximize space in my makeup bag.

mPrincess Pressed Eyeshadow in Chestnut – Pretty color, good pigmentation, and easy to blend! Solid eyeshadow.

VASANTI COSMETICS Professional Contour Eyeshadow Brush – Love this! I always use a fluffy brush for my crease and this is perfect.

December Glam Bag from Ipsy

A pink faux fur bag from ipsy in December? I can dig it! I was quite pleased with this bag, even though I already owned 2 of the products. They are products I like, so I certainly didn’t mind getting more.

Hikari Cosmetics’ Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner in Iris – I love felt-tipped liquid liners, especially dark purple ones! This was great.

Marc Anthony True Professional Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco Deep Hydrating Treatment – This is something I already own and use on my hair, so it’s nice to have a back up for when that runs out.

Ciaté London’s Liquid Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick in Pin Up – Okay, this was the best item for me. I’m obsessed with liquid lips, but it’s so hard finding a good formula and shade. This is both. It’s very comfortable on the lips and this shade is gorgeous! I wore it out when I attended a performance and got a few compliments!

tarte cosmetics’ deluxe maracuja oil – I already have some of this, too, but I am obsessed with it and this little baby bottle is so cute. I have dry-combo skin, so I like that this hydrates my dry areas well, but doesn’t make me look greasy. I usually use it at night to be safe, but it does work well before applying makeup, too.

theBalm Cosmetics’ Mad Lash® Mascara – Who doesn’t love mascara minis?! I swear these always arrive right as an old tube is getting dried up or almost gone. I like this formula from theBalm.

Ipsy is a makeup subscription that sends you a mix of both full and sample-sized beauty products each month in a cute bag. It’s only $10 – which you can’t beat! Sign up here.

I received my first Ipsy Glam Bag and I’m super excited! Even the hot pink, metallic packaging was too on point. Here’s my little review of the items included!

  1. Marc Anthony Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco Oil Treatment. This smelled AMAZING and made my hair soft, smooth, and shiny without making it look greasy OR make it look greasier faster. I would buy this product again.

2. noyah Natural Lipstick in Desert Rose. I thought this was fragrance at first from the packaging it came in! I’m much happier knowing it’s lipstick haha. It’s a preppy, pink color in real life. This photo makes it look more like a neutral, but it’s a pale pink. It is a matte finish and lasted pretty long. I was happy with this product. It’s very close to the Mac color Snob.

3. AILA Cosmetics Luxury Nail Lacquer in Mister Pookies. Okay, LOVE this color! It’s a deep, muted, purple and right up my alley. It went on easily and seemed to dry faster than the drugstore brands. I’ll let you know how it holds up!

4. Skone Cosmetics Luxe Doubler Eye/Lip Pencil in Wine. This is your standard, go-to lip pencil. It did well to define my lips before adding lipstick. It wasn’t too drying on my lips, which i always a plus. I haven’t used it as an eye liner yet, but it could definitely be fun!

5. Juice Beauty Cleansing Milk. I really enjoyed this cleanser. It smells good and looks more like a lotion. It removed my eye makeup in the shower without leaving me with raccoon eyes when I stepped out. That is a feat, my friends. My skin was super soft and not dried out, so I’d buy this again!

Eva NYC Almighty Pro Lite Ionic Dryer + Galaxy Ceramic Styling Iron Review

20140802-150855-54535289.jpg

About a month ago, I bought an Eva NYC blow dryer and straightener from Nasty Gal. My straightener had crapped out and I’ve always wanted an ionic blow dryer, so once I saw the galaxy print and neon, I was sold! Not to mention the price was nice – the blow dryer was $27.50 and the straightener was $50. I wanted to give them a few weeks of using them before writing this up, so here it goes!

First off, I LOVE the straightener. It has a dial to adjust the temperature and the light turns green on the side when it’s up to that temperature. It’s a lot nicer than the Chi I was previously using and makes my hair feel silkier. I still can’t get the whole ‘curl your hair with a straightener’ thing down, but that’s a personal problem. The straightener does get hot all the way around, so I’m sure it’d do it!

The blow dryer is nice, but doesn’t dry my hair as fast as what I envisioned. I wouldn’t say it dried it too much quicker than my old one, if at all. I do like, though, the speed and temperature controls are a lot better. It came with a couple attachments, but I tend to just use it naked (hah). It’s a little quieter than my old one, but I wasn’t using anything fancy.

Overall, I’m happy with my purchase! I’d give the flat iron 9/10 and the blow dryer 7/10.
