April Glam Bag from Ipsy

This bag is adorable! What a fun idea! I was very happy with this month’s glam bag. Do you have ipsy? It’s only $10/month! Sign up here!

Glamour Dolls x Lisa Frank Angle Blush Brush
– How cute is this brush?! Takes me back to my grade school days and being obsessed with Lisa Frank. The bristles are soft and I like the angle of them, as well. Solid, cute brush!

SKIN&CO Roma Truffle Therapy Face Toner – This stuff smells a little strange, but it does wonderful things for my skin. I love toners and they’re essential to my skincare routine, so I love trying new ones out. This doesn’t dry out my skin too much either.

Adesse New York Cupuaçu Butter Lip Balm™ – Wow this makes my lips soft! I’m sort of a lip balm whore, so I’m always excited to try new ones and this did not disappoint! It smells good, feels amazing on, and makes my lips feel super hydrated.

Ciaté London Mini Bamboo Bronzer – I love the Ciate brand, but I was a little disappointed to get another bronzer in my ipsy bag. I just got one last month and a little bronzer truly goes a long way. It’s a pretty color, though.

ColourPop Cosmetics Crème Gel Pencil in Swerve – I was actually needing a new black eyeliner, so this came right in time! I’m a fan of ColourPop! Quality products plus fantastic price points.

Marc Anthony True Professional Deep Repair Aloe Vera & Jasmine Oil Deep Repairing Conditioning Treatment – Smells amazing and made my hair feel soft.

theBalm Cosmetics Bahama Mama – Solid bronzer! I can see why it’s loved by so many. I took it with me on vacation to maximize space in my makeup bag.

mPrincess Pressed Eyeshadow in Chestnut – Pretty color, good pigmentation, and easy to blend! Solid eyeshadow.

VASANTI COSMETICS Professional Contour Eyeshadow Brush – Love this! I always use a fluffy brush for my crease and this is perfect.

Makeup Gift Guide 2016

So, I’ve had a few friends and friends-of-friends ask me about buying makeup for themselves or a loved one. I guess I am THAT makeup person in my circle, which I’m totally okay with. It got me thinking that this could be a really good blog post! So here’s some goodies for that special someone OR if you just want to treat yourself this holiday season. ;) One thing I would stay away from, is trying to guess someone else’s foundation and concealer colors. If they’re wanting a good foundation, just get them a gift certificate.

FOR THE MAKEUP NEWBIES

If they’re interested in makeup, but aren’t aficionados yet, start here.

A beauty blender. These are magical. After wetting it before use, you dab your foundation/makeup onto your skin, then tap the beauty blender on your skin to blend. It works for all kinds of face make up, but I prefer mine for my foundation and concealer. This helps create that flawless, streak-free look. I’ve tried some of the other-brand blenders, but they just aren’t quite as good as this one.

Urban Decay’s Naked eye shadow palette. The Naked palettes are so popular, because they’re universally flattering, great quality, and extremely versatile. There are other versions (Naked 2, Naked 3, Naked Smokey, Naked Basics 1 + 2, and Naked Ultimate Basics), so even if she has one, you can always add to this collection.

Too Faced Let It Glow Highlight & Blush Kit. Mini versions of their popular blush, bronzer, and highlighter. This is a great set to start off with.

tarte’s Tartelette Tease eye shadow palette. This is a great neutral eye shadow palette for every day looks. It’s got both matte and shimmer shades to suit your taste.

A brush set. A nice brush set that features some eye and face brushes would be great for someone just dipping their toes into makeup. The one linked isn’t the one you necessarily have to get, but any beauty store will have some value sets to choose from.

FOR THE MAKEUP LOVERS

See if you can double check that they don’t already have something mentioned below, cause they might! But if they don’t, I’d definitely look into some of these. Many of them have a “cult following” and a great reputation.

Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Modern Renaissance eye shadow palette. This is actually one of my most recent purchases. I held off on buying this for a long time, but finally gave in. And now I’m mad I didn’t sooner! These colors are gorgeous and the formula is truly outstanding.

Becca x Jaclyn Hill’s Champagne Pop highlighter. This is supposed to be amazing and it’s actually on my wishlist! I just cant bring myself to spend $38 on it, but I’d LOVE it as a gift.

Nars Blush in Orgasm. This shade you guys. There’s a reason so many people love this shade. It’s buildable and universally flattering. Seriously, it looks good on everybody. Highly, highly recommend.

Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita. Liquid Lips are all the rage right now and this chestnut-rose shade in particular is quite popular. It looks different from person to person, but it always looks good. It’s long-lasting and kiss proof, a must for liquid lips!

NARS Audacious Lipstick. These lipsticks get amazing reviews and come in a plethora of shades. You’ll delight your makeup lover with this choice, no doubt.

FOR THE MAKEUP OBSESSED

You’re going to have to think a little outside the box for your makeup obsessed loved one. This might mean getting an unusual item or dropping some serious dough on something luxurious.

Urban Decay’s Vice Lipstick Stockpile. Why not go all out and get UD’s 30 most popular lipstick shades all at once? It’s limited edition and saves you about $200 than if you bought each shade individually.

Kat Von D’s Shade + Light Face Contour Refillable Palette. This palette features 3 contour and 3 highlighter colors, all matte finish. And it’s refillable!

Viseart Eyeshadow Palette. These eyeshadow palettes are pricey, but get amazing reviews. There are plenty of different palettes to choose from, from bright and bold to neutrals and sultry dark colors.

Hourglass’ Ambient® Lighting Edit – Surreal Light. This is a limited-edition palette of gorgeous powder, bronzer, blushes, and a highlighter. The Hourglass brand is amazing, I love my finishing powder by them. I can only imagine a whole face using this brand!

Bitch Slap! Cosmetics pressed highlighters and eye shadows. Bitch Slap! cracks me up! They have so many options of pressed powders that are done in small batches. Warning: there are a lot of penis and vagina powders, if you’re faint of heart. I, for one, would die laughing and LOVE any of their powders. They also have some Prince, David Bowie, skull, and even Pokemon powders. Oh, and they have penis-shaped lipsticks which I’m dying to get for a bachelorette party gift.

Jouer’s Lip Toppers. These shimmery lip toppers go over your lipstick to transform the shade. This is on my personal wishlist, for sure!

This isn’t all-encompassing by any means, but I hope this gives you some ideas! If you have some more recommendations, I’d love to hear them in the comments!

May Glam Bag from Ipsy

Another cute bag! I’m pretty excited for this bag and I wish it came sooner for my vacation since the theme this month is “Destination Chic” and I would’ve totally used all these products while in Florida. Guess I’ll have to use them all summer long instead.

Caribbean Sun Bronzer Duo by Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics – I was a bit skeptical when I saw the blush color, but wow this is so pretty on! I really like this product and it’s something I totally would’ve passed over otherwise. This was definitely the MVP of this month’s Glam Bag.

Hungry Hair Oil Treatment by Eva NYC – I actually have a hair straightener and blow dryer from Eva NYC (read the review here), but I’ve never tried any of their hair care products.

Gel Effect Nail Polish by Aurora in Safety Orange – I have to admit, I would never by this color for myself, but I’m glad I have it in my collection. I don’t normally like orange, but this is neon orange, so I can get down with it.

No-Tug Waterproof Mini Gel Eyeliner by IT Cosmetics – This rules! It truly is no tug. I can’t do wings with it, because it just isn’t as precise as a brush, but this was great for lining my lash line and it stayed! I haven’t really tested the water proof-ness yet.

Lavender Moisture Rich Balm by Jersey Shore Cosmetics – LOVE the lavender! I use lavender in my nighttime routine, so I put this baby on my night stand. It’s great! Feels nice on the lips and isn’t too greasy.

March Glam Bag from Ipsy

Another bag I actually like! This one was cute and I was pretty excited about what I received in my bag. I’m pretty jealous of everyone who received the Colourpop highlighter, though. If that was swapped with the bronzer, I’d be a happy girl.

Beau Gâchis® Paris Eyeshadow Brush – $12. A brush is a brush for me. I have no complaints, so I guess that means it’s good! I didn’t notice anything outstanding about it, but it got the job done and you can’t have too many brushes. Well, maybe, but I’m not there yet.

Marc Anthony Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco 3 Day Smooth Perfect Blow Dry Cream – $9. I liked this! I did think my hair was smoother after blow drying when I used this product. I enjoyed the smell of it, too, and the product soaked into your hands after you put it into your hair fairly quick. I hate when hair products just sit on your hands. I’m noticing a trend of really liking Marc Anthony hair products.

NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Pink Lust – $7. I received the fuchsia color. It is super bright and didn’t really fit my complexion that well. It’s a pretty color, though, and I’m happy that we have more options for inexpensive liquid lipsticks. The formula was pretty nice, especially for that pricetag. It was a bit more drying than my more expensive liquid lipsticks, but that didn’t surprise me.

TEMPTU Warm Glow Bronzer – $27? (Can’t find this exact product on their website). I wasn’t sure what to think about a liquid bronzer. I used my fingers to apply and blend. It looked a bit dark when I first put it on, but it blended out well and easily. I liked how it looked, but I think I prefer my powder bronzers for ease of application. I’ll have to try using a brush or beauty blender and see if that works out better for me.

essence cosmetics make me brow eyebrow gel mascara – $3. This reminded me of Benefit’s Gimme Brow ($24), except it’s only $3! I have the Gimme Brow and I was super impressed with Essence’s version. For that price tag, I’d definitely recommend and get the Essence version when I’m out of both. It deposits a little bit of color on your brows and combs them into place and holds them there. I usually use this as the finishing touch on my brows after using a pencil to define.

So that’s March’s bag! Can’t wait until next months. If you don’t have ipsy, you should! It’s only $10 a month and you receive samples and a cute make up bag monthly. You take a quiz so they can better match up products with your preferences. Click here and get ipsy!
