Workbag Essentials

I’ve found that keeping my workbag stocked and organized has drastically improved my day-to-day work life. It’s nice having anything you might need right on hand. I’ll clarify that I only take my workbag with me during the week to and from appointments.

First and foremost, the bag is very important. I went with a Around Town Tote in Posh Purple Pebble from ThirtyOne with a Super Swap-It Pocket inside so it’ll stand on it’s own and offer even more orginazation. Get a bag that you love and don’t mind carrying around in addition to or instead of your purse. I needed to be able to carry folders full of papers, so size was very important to me. I got purple as a pick-me-up to brighten my day since it’s my favorite color.

Workbag Essentials

Inside my bag, I have a variety of different things that come in handy throughout the work week.

Water Bottle – I have a water bottle on my desk and also take a water bottle with me in my workbag. Anything to get my water intake up is a win in my book.

Mini Perfumes – Having one of these never hurts for a refresher throughout the day or if you forgot to apply some that morning. A little goes a long way!

Tide-To-Go Pens – We all get food on us at some point and these will give us a chance to not have us looking like a sloppy mess the rest of the day.

Business Card Holder – Keep your business cards in pristine condition inside a business card holder.

Mints – Always pop in a mint before talking face-to-face with a client!

Pens – Don’t be that person who doesn’t have a pen! I keep a whole pencil case full of pens, pencils, highlighters, and markers handy for anything that arises.

Lip Balm – I HATE chapped lips. They are the worst, so I always keep chapstick around. Purse, car, coat, and bags have some sort of lip balm in them.

Mini Hair Brush – A quick brush-through can be great on windy days when you’re going to appointments. I keep a small brush handy for these emergencies!

Hair Ties – I feel like these are self explanatory.

Makeup – Of course, I’ll have some makeup handy for any touch ups throughout the day. Subscription bag items are great things to stick in your purse or workbag. I have some mini lipsticks, mascaras, translucent powder, blush, and highlighter in a makeup bag.

Painkillers – It’s great to keep the painkiller of your choice on hand for headaches or other aches and pains that could throw off your day.

Notepad – You’ll need something to use those pens with!

That’s all I’ve got for now. Are there any items that you keep in your workbag that aren’t listed? I’d love to know if I missed anything – comment below!

I wanted to share my favorite albums from this year and reminisce about all the fantastic music I’ve gotten to enjoy. Obviously, there were many, many great releases and these are just my personal favorites.  In order of their release, here are my favorite albums from 2017.

1. Vessels by Starset – Starset is one of my favorite bands, so it was awesome starting the year off right away with new music from them. I had been eagerly awaiting the follow up to their first album in 2014. My favorites on this record include the lead single Monster, Frequency, and Everglow.

2. Every Where is Some Where by K. Flay – I had never heard of K. Flay before her single Blood in the Cut, the first single, came out, but I quickly fell in love! The other two singles off this album, Black Wave and High Enough, are also favorites of mine. I’m excited to keep an eye on K. Flay and what she does next.

3. Black Smoke Rising+ From the Fires by Greta Van Fleet – Okay, this isn’t a full-fledged album, but I’m including Greta Van Fleet’s two EPs in this list. I feel like if you listen to any type of rock music, you already know who Greta Van Fleet is, because their lead single Highway Tune BLEW UP. We lucked out and had them at our Nutcracker show this year and they were amazing live! Can’t wait to see what these new, young rockers have in store.

4. One More Light by Linkin Park – I quite enjoyed the newest from Linkin Park, especially the lead single Heavy. It upset me quite a bit hearing about Chester Bennington’s tragic suicide. Linkin Park was one of the bands that got me into rock music in grade school. I wouldn’t be the same person as I am today if I hadn’t discovered them. I’m grateful we got one last album before we lost Chester.

5. Crooked Teeth by Papa Roach – I love me some Papa Roach and this album did not disappoint. They seem to always put out great music with their signature sound. My favorites are Help and American Dream, both of which were singles.

6. Destroy + Rebuild by Deadset Society – Love, love, love Deadset Society, formally Never Say Die. I’ve known half the band since their My Darkest Days… days haha. Anyways, I think this whole album is fantastic, giving us some tried and true active rock songs. This is their debut album, which they released independently and garnered quite a bit of attention from Sirius Octane with their single Like a Nightmare. Currently, Automatic, is climbing the rock radio charts at the time of posting.

7. Rainbow by Kesha – Oh, how I’ve been dieing for some new Kesha music. I’ve loved Kesha since the OG Ke$ha days. I must admit that I LOVE the growth she’s shown on this album. Her quirky, fun side is present but the sound is much more mature and even dives into some serious content. I love basically every song on here, but I guess my favorites would be Let ‘Em Talk, Woman, Boots, and Learn to Let Go.

8. Younger Now by Miley Cyrus – This is probably the farthest thing from her previous album, Bangerz, but it’s in the best way possilbe. I really dig the pop-rock-country vibe going on in this one. I wasn’t a big fan of the lead single, Malibu, but I truly love everything else on the album.

9. Heaven Upside Down by Marilyn Manson – Marilyn Manson did it again with some dark, deranged, catchy as hell music. I love the two singles We Know Where You Fucking Live and KILL4ME most. The videos for both are quite entertaining, as well.

10. Notorious by Adelitas Way – I’ve loved this band since their 2011 Home School Valeictorian album. They consistently put out good, catchy tunes and Rick’s voice is truly one of my favorites. The track called Notorious is also my favorite on the album and was actually in my top five most played songs for the year.

I’d love to hear if any of these made your list and please share some of YOUR favorites! I’m always looking for new music!

NYE Fashion

I’m pretty sure everyone knows that NYE = GLITTER + SEQUINS! This is THE night to bust out all your favorite sparkly pieces (well, don’t wear them all at once) and get festive for the night. I’d pick one, maybe two sparkly piece to be the focus of your look and then build your outfit around that. It doesn’t have to be your dress, though! I love the idea of some over-the-knee sequin boots or even sequin pants to really stand out. And of course, if you’re wanting something more casual, a sequined blazer with some jeans are a perfect combo!

Personally, I have a black, sequined, fitted dress that I’ll be wearing. I’m still working on the exact details, but I’m thinking black tights for some warmth, a faux fur coat, and some silver booties to wrap up the look.

Here are a few outfits I put together for some NYE inspiration if you’re still planning your outfit! Enjoy!

NYE 2017

Erno Laszlo Vitamin C Peel Mask

Influenster was kind enough to select me to try and review the Erno Laszlo White Marble Dual Phase Vitamin C Peel mask. The set retails for $100 and has the following description:

Peel and reveal. Powered by super-nutrient Vitamin C, our clarifying two-step peel gently polishes skin as it fades dark spots and discoloration. Step 1 gently exfoliates; Step 2 activates brightening and moisturizing actives—you simply peel away to uncover instant radiance. Your complexion feels instantly new: smoother, even-toned and illuminated. Protective antioxidants and collagen-boosters combine to refine and renew skin, such as age-defying actives and brightening ingredients, including:

    • Vitamin C—the formula’s star multitasker—to reduce dark spots and dullness, lighten skin and jump-start collagen production.
    • Carrot seed oil to heal and balance dry or chapped skin, while helping fight age spots and sun damage.
    • Lactic acid to gently exfoliate skin so it’s properly prepped to absorb brightening, hydrating and healing nutrients.

I had never used a product like this before, so I was very excited to try it out. First, you use the smooth peel all over your face and rub it into your skin for about 3 minutes. This smells super citris-y and really wakes you up! Then, you mix the liquid activator into your hands and massage it into your skin for one minute. Finally, you rinse with warm water when you’re done.

My skin felt and looked wonderful after using it. It really got all that dead skin that can be tricky to get off and left me with a pretty glow. It did not irritate my skin at all either.

It is suggested to use this set weekly. I’ve had it for about a month now and have been doing just that. It’s been a great addition to my skin care routine and I’m actually considering getting more when I run out of this. I hope it lasts me quite a while, though.
